Materials
Is the cost of art supplies/materials a concern to you? You don't have to purchase expensive materials to create art, especially if you're just beginning and you're not sure if you'll stick with it. The materials used can be purchased at your local discount/department store and are very inexpensive.
There are a lot of good acrylic paints on the market, but if you're just starting you may choose to use the craft paints or student grade paints. If a color inspires you, get it. It's easier to have the perfect purple already mixed than trying to mix it from purple and white. But that's not to say you should not try mixing your paints. I've discovered many unique colors just "playing" around with mixing. (Tip: Mixing more than 3 colors together usually makes mud.)
